JoyGrows operates community gardens in public housing communities in Annapolis, providing opportunities for neighborhood kids to get outside, garden, raise produce and chickens and play. They distribute free hundreds of pounds of fresh produce for the communities (often food deserts) in which they operate.
And they’re involved in so much more: woodworking shops, bike repair, watershed conservation, native plant nurseries. It’s an exciting group that shows how much can be accomplished with a grassroots, community-first approach.
