We’re excited about our new relationship with JoyGrows! It’s a huge community garden right here in our neighborhood of Eastport, but it’s so much more than that. JoyGrows has projects all over Annapolis. Community gardens, yes — where kids from historically underserved neighborhoods come out to lend a hand, garden, raise chickens and just play — and help grow fresh, free produce for communities that are often food deserts.
But it’s so much more than that. Community greenspaces. Wood-shop and bike-repair workshop spaces for neighborhood kids. Rain gardens, watershed protection, native plant nurseries. JoyGrows Director Matthew Wallace is a tireless polymath and a community-organizing genius. He’s assembled a huge network of volunteers, beneficiaries and partners in astonishingly short order.
JoyGrows is a textbook study in how much can be accomplished with a grassroots, community-first approach. We’re honored to work with them. Stay tuned for updates!
